Félix da Costa achieves "one of the main objectives" by returning to the WEC

António Félix da Costa is Alpine 's new driver in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for 2026. He was confirmed this Tuesday by the French brand, after two years away from the championship - despite being able to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June.
This was a long-standing desire of the 2022 LMP2 champion and also Formula E driver, as he himself stated in a statement: " Returning to the World Endurance Championship was one of my main goals , and I am extremely pleased to do so with a manufacturer that has redefined itself in a bold and ambitious way, and is now competing at the forefront of endurance racing."
Arrival at the "perfect moment"
In the summer, Félix da Costa ended his relationship with Porsche , where he had competed in the WEC season in the top category in 2023 with Jota. In 2025, he only competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but in the LMP2 category.
In Formula E, he joined Jaguar for the upcoming season, having received permission from the British manufacturer to partner with Alpine in the WEC—at a time when the Renault Group brand has been growing in the championship. On September 28th, he scored his first victory in the current A424 project.
It's an ideal time to join the team, according to Félix da Costa: " Alpine is a brand with a strong racing legacy , and becoming part of such an impressive ecosystem is truly exciting. The team has been performing at a very high level , recently achieving its first victory with the A424, making this the perfect time to begin our collaboration ."
Félix da Costa's objective
Accustomed to fighting for top positions in Formula E, Félix da Costa naturally wants to achieve success in the WEC—just like Alpine, which, with one round remaining in its second season with the A424, already has one victory and four podium finishes. His resume also includes the 2022 LMP2 title and a victory at Le Mans in the same class.
The Portuguese spoke about his goals: "Everyone knows my passion for endurance racing. I've worked hard to develop myself as a complete driver in this discipline, and after winning the LMP2 title, my goal now is to contribute to Alpine's success at the pinnacle . I'm looking forward to working with the team, my teammates, and all the engineers and mechanics."
